Portaferry 1-12 v Ballycran
2-07
Portaferry came out on top with
their fierce rivals Ballycran
in a titanic encounter played
in glorious sunshine in St Patrick's
Park Portaferry. Ballycran in
the first half undoubtedly were
in the ascendancy with Conor
Dorrian and Kevin Coyle getting
early points. The home side
however stayed in touch through
the set pieces of Michael Doran
and an early point a piece from
Ryan Miskelly and Eunan Mc Mullan.
Ballycran replied with Neil
Torney grabbing an opportunist
goal to lead at half time 2-04
to Portaferry's 9 points.
The home side
hit the second half running
with Brendan Coleman laying
off a great pass and Ryan Miskelly
burying the sloithar into the
net. With Neil White and Aaron
O Prey outstanding the Ports
led for the first time with
only minutes remaining. Ballycran
tagged on points through Coyle
but the home side sealed a deserved
2 points with a brilliant point
from substitute JJ Mc Auley.
This was a very entertaining
game with some great passages
of play from both teams. Best
for the boys in black and amber
included Michael Hughes at centre
back and Michael Taylor on wing.
Up front Torney and Kevin Coyle
were a threat. Best for the
Ports included Fergal Rodgers,
Aaron O Prey in middle and Brendan
Coleman in attack.
