RESURGENT REDS WIN AGAIN

Rostrevor 13-8 Annaclone 8-10

Rostrevor under 16 girls underlined their recent resurgence with this fine win in a fast and hard-hitting contest with a tenacious Annaclone side.

There were a number of noteworthy features to this Rostrevor performance. Sara Clerkin, out for almost a year through injury, celebrated her come-back by scoring three goals! Midfielder Danielle Sherry had took a knock on the nose and had to be substituted to receive attention for a blood injury. But she came back to finish as her teams top scorer with 3-2!Aisling McGeough also hit 3-1 for the home team who built up a commanding lead, then had to defend it uncompromisingly as Annaclone, despite having to finish with fourteen players battled back bravely. Indeed, had kate Nolan not frustrated Annaclone early on with an excellent penalty save, Reds could have found themselves floundering!
