The success of the under 16 girls has
prompted the club to consider whether to
enter an adult team in the junior league
this summer. Any ladies interested
should contact Chris Doyle Ciaran Mooney
or any member of the club committee.
q
The club already have a new team “on the
block” this year. The Thirds have been
getting good attendances at training
under Sean Gannon and John Markey. The
Seconds game v Clonduff in the Premier
Reserve league was postponed because of
pitch unavailability on Sunday, but the
senior team played a challenge v An
Riocht, which they won 1-10 to 1-6. Leo
Murphy has accepted an advisory role on
the new senior management team The
Minors tournament game v An Riocht was
also a victim of the weather.
q
Congratulations to Martin Cole, who had
another fine game for Down in Sundays
win over Derry in Ballinascreen. Wel
done also to Padraig Mulholland and
Conor Magee, who made their County Minor
competitive debuts in the Ulster Minor
league v Monaghan last Saturday. And
good luck to Colm Murney, who steps out
in the Hogan Cup semi final for Abbey
CBS this Saturday in Portlaoise
q
Volunteers are urgently needed to help
with juvenile football teams in the
club.
q
Committee members are reminded that next
Mondays club committee meeting has a
very important agenda, and that the
issue of Ranfurley House is scheduled
for debate..
