Saul made it 4 wins in a row to remain unbeaten and lead Division 3 of the All-County league, thanks to an impressive victory over St. Michael's at a blustery Magheralin venue on Sunday. St. Michael opened the scoring with a pointed free on 4 minutes. Saul playing against a strong breeze were in total control but didn't open there account until the 24th minute when JP Burke scored a point, points from Paul Craig and Noel Napier saw Saul turn round with a half time lead of 0-3, to 0-1.

The second have started the same, with Saul on top, and after 2 pointed frees and a goal from Paul Craig, against a single point from the home side, Saul had established a winning lead of 1-5 to 0-2 after 15 minutes of the half. A point from Hugh McGrath and 2 points from young forward Philip Trainor and just 2 late points from the home side saw Saul run out winners on a 1-8 to 0-4 scoreline.

Stevie Stratton in the Saul goal did everything he was asked to do very well, and the defensive unit of Joe Napier, Adam King, Stevie Shields, Hugh McGrath, Donnie Ritchie, and Davy Higgins were assured. At midfield Joe Napier and Davy McKinlay were in total command, while all 6 forwards, in particular Paul Craig and second half substitute, Philip Trainor were a constant threat to the home defence. Philip Trainor looks a great prospect and I am sure we will here a lot of him in the future, he is very fast and appears to have a great temperment.
