Saul minors got back to winning
ways with an emphatic victory over
a robust and determined Kilclief
at a windswept Saint Patrick’s Park
on Sunday last. Playing against
a very strong wind Saul controlled
most of the first half but wayward
shooting into the wind saw them
tril at half-time on a 0-5 to 1-1
scoreline, Jason Dagens scoring
Saul’s 1-1.
Saul took the lead early in the
second half with a goal from Callum
Laverty, and this set the trend
for the remainder of the game, with
Saul in total control, adding further
scores from: Jason Dagens 1-5, Paul
Ferris 1-1, 0-2 from Lee Magee and
a point from Christopher Fitzsimons,
against a solitary point for the
visitors to leave Saul comfortable
victors on a 4-10 to 0-6 scoreline.
This was one of Saul’s better performances,
and a real team performance, with
everyone working hard and supporting
each other.
A very noticeable aspect of their
performance was the tremendous discipline
shown in the face of some crude
and robust tackling by the visitors.
