Saul GAC Club Notes for week of Apr 2nd  2006

  • Downe Veterinary backing for Saul GAC

    • Downe Veterinary Clinic of Church Street, Downpatrick and Causeway Road, Newcastle are the latest to sign up for the Brighter Future business sponsorship package with the club. Club chairman, Peter Craig welcomed Downe Veterinary Clinic on board and alike all the sponsors, urged the club supporters to repay the support of Maurice King and his team. They join Medical and General Financial Solutions, Ciaran Russell Motors, McGreevy's Butchers and JC Meats on the club business sponsor team.

In the Brighter Future initiative, all business sponsors benefit from an attractive promotional opportunity in return for supporting the club development growth. Businesses signing up receive a 12 month Sponsorship Board at St Patricks Park, are listed on the programmes for senior home matches and in the club roll of honour in addition to having an engraved listing at the foot of the new floodlights when erected. Businesses also receive a 12 month banner on one of the county's most active club website www.saul-gac.com, 2 free entries to all Saul's home games for nominated representatives and 3 free tickets into the Saul GAC weekly club draw. The club are pleased to report that the other members packages, Gold Club and Club Saul are receiving healthy support. To get involved contact a committee member or email info@saul-gac.com.

  • Teams roundup

    •  The minors have had a frustrating few weeks following a run of 2 successive victories. Following the home match against local rivals Kilclief being unplayed the previous week due to no available referee, Sunday's match at home to Darragh Cross was postponed on Sunday morning following a weekend of heavy rain making the Saul pitch unplayable. To their credit, the squad put in a heavy training session in place of the match and will be well up for what is turning into a significant backlog of fixtures to catch up on over the remaining weeks of the league campaign.

    • The senior team took on Bright and Sarsfields (Antrim) in challenge games on Monday and Friday last and these were solid and successful workouts for the home squad. Thanks to Kyran Smith for bringing his Bright team to Saul for the game and to Joe McStay with the Sarsfields lads. The club wishes both teams all the best for their respective leagues this year. The Saul management have been able to run the eye over a large panel of players and some of the younger talent coming through the ranks are a cause for optimism for the next few years.

    • The U10's U12's, U14 and U16 boys teams all started training last week with good turnouts on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with the ladies section of the club at U12, U14  and senior ladies all continuing to grow in numbers and enthusiasm.
