Saul Notes - Jan 29th 2006


  • Seniors

    • The seniors have their second get-together on Tuesday night at 7.30pm in Saul Hall for a series of fitness tests. All players are reminded to complete the contact and assessment forms on the senior player section of the club web site (www.saul-gac.com)

  • Minors

    • The minors continue training for the upcoming league campaign and (apart from a few injuries and some late comers), the sessions have been tight and productive. The squad throw-in on their league season on Sunday with a trip to near-neighbours Bright (12 noon).  All players are asked to be at St Patrick's Park for 11.15am on Sunday.
       

  • Mentors Meeting

    • The first meeting of the management sub-committee was well attended and the business of assigning managers to the various teams representing the club was the main item of focus along with setting the guidelines under which all management teams will operate in and be assisted by the club through the season. The management team setups for the various teams will be confirmed at the next meeting. For 2006, Saul will be represented at Senior, Reserve, Minor, U16, U14, U12, U10 and U8 levels this year (the latter 3 via the new Go-Games initiative) plus Junior level, U14 and U12 level in ladies football. Next meeting to beheld at 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 7th.
       

  • Registration

    • Registration took place on Sunday for the U12 and U14 girls teams for 2006. If you missed out, it's not too late as you can register at the first training session for the teams on February 12th at 12.30pm. New players welcomed and its expected the leagues will start in May. Reminder that membership is also due now for all players. Next up on the player registration schedule, its the turn of the U12 and U14 boys teams on Sunday February 12th at 12.15pm - current and new players also welcomed there and parents are welcome (tea/coffee will be provided).
       

  • Senior Ladies

    • A first meeting of the senior ladies team for 2006 was also held on Sunday past with a reasonable turnout. The squad have a follow-up training session on Thursday night (Feb 2nd) at 7pm sharp. Bring your gear and boots for this. Entry to the 2006 leagues at Junior level will also be discussed/finalised so its vital that anyone (15yrs and up) interested in representing the Blue and Gold in the Ladies team attends.
       

  • Coaching Event/Courses

    • Reminder for members of some courses/conferences coming up. This Saturday (Feb 4th), a coaching conference will be held in St Malachy's Castlewellan. Starting at 9:30 and running to 5:00pm, this will launches the new GO GAMES initiative and club coaches are asked to attend the day along with representatives from the primary schools. Also this weekend, on Sunday, a SAQ course is being held in Killyleagh (details on the club website) and the club will be represented there. Finally a first aid course will be held on Tuesday February 21st (watch this space for details)
       

  • Scor

    • Finally, best wishes to the club representatives in the East Down semi-finals of the senior Scor on Sunday night coming (Feb 5th) in Saul hall. All support is welcomed. Timing will be confirmed on the club site (www.saul-gac.com)
