Saul Notes - May 16th 2006

Saul GAC Club Notes
for week of May 15th 2006
-
Teams Roundup
-
Seniors - the senior
team took on both Glassdrumman and Saval
away from home over the last week
unfortunately returning pointless from
those encounters. Against Glassdrumman,
the game was very much up for grabs and
it was point for point throughout with the
home side grabbing the crucial deciding
goal late in the first half which
ultimately proved the difference. In Saval
on Friday night, the Saul backline was
taunted time after time by an on-form
Danny Hughes returning after helping Down
overturn Cavan last week.
-
Reserves - the reserves
had a disappointing 2nd outing in the
league with defeat at home to a resurgent
Darragh Cross outfit and will be looking
for a good turnout at training this week
to turn the season around.
-
U16's - the U16's
overturned Ardglass in Ardtole for a
resounding win which extends their winning
run to 3 in a row after their defeat to
Bright in the opening league game.
-
U14's - the U14's
travelled to Dromara and returned without
the league points
-
The U14 Girls welcomed
a very young Bright side to Saul and were
delighted to win their 2nd match after
defeat in Carryduff the weekend before.
From goalkeeper to forward line and to all
8 substitutes entering the game, the team
is starting to play with a fluency and
drive in their first year of league
competition. The winning Saul team
included Chloe McEvoy, Caoimhe Hayes,
Roisin Sloan, Orla Kearney, Shona
McLaughlin, Lisa McMullan, Rachel Curran,
Tara Laverty, Clodagh Keeling, Catherine
Hamilton, Natalia Hynds, Shannon
Fitzsimons, Grainne Laverty and Sarah
McVeigh, Niamh McMullan, Katie McMullan,
Abbey Kearney, Eimear Jennings, Orla
Holland, Katie Bohill, Catherine Polly.
For a hard working Bright side, Gemma
Toner and Jenniffer Tempaney stood out.
