Saul GAC Club Notes for week of December 11th 2007

Ballad Group Scor-na-Nog success continues

Congratulations to the Saul Scor-na-nog Ballad Group who now have at least equalled last years performances already by winning their Ulster semi-final at Swatragh on Friday night. The Down champions - Grainne Laverty, Nicole Leung-Soon, Sarah McVeigh, Cristina Holland and Roisin Sloan again put in a fantastic performance to impress the Saul support, the large watching audience and most importantly the adjudicators to win through in a high quality competition. Overall it was a great night for Down with Castlewellan (Instrumental Music), Loughinisland (Question Time), Warrenpoint (Set Dancing) and Rostrevor (Novelty Act) all winning their place in the Ulster Final which takes place on Saturday 19th January at Galbally, Co Tyrone. The opposition for the Ballad Group Ulster title will come from Tyrone (Kileeshil) and Armagh (Carrickcruppin). With a big support encouraged, Galbally is the place to be on that night. Forget X factor, this is where the musical talent is. Well done girls plus Phil Stratton, Gareth McGreevy and all the supporters who made the long trip. The club fully supports your push to go one better and bring back an Ulster title to start 2008 off in the best possible way in January.

Annual General Meeting on Sunday

The club's annual general meeting takes place this Sunday starting at 2pm sharp at the clubrooms. Members are encouraged to attend as this is your chance to have a say in your club and prepare for a successful 2008.

Down Yearbook 2007 in the shops

The 2007 Down Yearbook, produced by the Down County PRO, Diarmuid Cahill with input from club and county sides is now available at the Saul clubrooms and in the shops. It has over 200 pages packed with articles and photographs of all aspects of Gaelic Games in Down from Club to County Level and has a spread on Saul activity during the year - well worth grabbing a copy priced at £10 each. An added club interest on this years yearbook is that the Saul 2007 Ballad Group (County Champions and Ulster Finalists) are featured as one of the pictures on the front cover.
