SAVAL LADIES FOOTBALL NEWS
THREE IN A ROW FOR THE UNDER 16
GIRLS
Ballymartin 0-8 Saval 6-7
Last Sunday made the long journey
to undefeated Ballymartin and came
away with another 2 league points.
It was a game which Saval dominated
throughout and got off to a great
start with a Lorraine Havern goal.
Midfielder Viki Lennon quickly added
another. Further goals from Claudia
Cole, Niamh Millar and Lorraine
Havern again put Saval in the comfort
zone. Our Down Under 14 star Niamh
Millar finished the first half scoring
spree with two classy long range
points to leave Saval with a half
time lead of 5-4 to 0-3.
The second half saw Saval squander
many scoring chances much due to
the brilliance of the Ballymartin
keeper. Natashya Lennon and Ashleen
McEvoy added minor scores to Saval
total. The highlight of the second
half was a well taken goal by Karen
Convery who worked hard throughout.
All 5 subs were given a decent run
out in the second half.
Overall the team put in a solid
performance however a special mention
has to go to defence where Christine,
Brenda, Grace, Laura, Rachel, Susan
and Claudia were just brilliant.
This Under 16 side is a class act
.The girls are working well in training,
team spirit is good and the attitude
is right.
On Sunday the girls will meet a
vastly improved Newry Shamrocks
side at Nan Sands Park which will
be Saval’s first
home game since August 2003.
