Senior Girls Finish League in
Style
Thursday 23 August Annaclone
0-9 Saval 13-13
Last Thursday evening the girls
travelled to Ballela to play Annaclone
in their penultimate league game.
Ballela have a fine pitch and
conditions were great. Saval totally
dominated the game and played
their best football of the year.
A great all round team performance
Star performer was corner back
Anna Madine who scored a cracking
goal when moved to half –forward,
did alright in backs as well.
Others to shine were Edele Lively
and Katrina Quinn in the backs,
up front Catherine Digney, Niamh
Millar, Natashya Lennon and ace
forward Lorraine Havern all stood
out. A BIG THANK YOU TO CLARE
SANDS WHO LED THE CHEERS, Uncle
Brian will not be happy.
Hurtful comments made at Ballela
namely by Colleen Lennon and Rachel
Havern who wanted to swap managers
Anthony and Damien with the “fit
young fellas” who manage
Annaclone. Can’t say much
more as there maybe legal proceedings
has got to be an injury to feelings
claim, anyway we all know who
the substitutes will be in the
next game.
Monday 27 August Saval 5-9 Downpatrick
3-15
This was Saval’s final league
game of the season and they earned
a draw against a gutsy Downpatrick
side which means that the girls
finished a very creditable third
in the league in their first season.
A fantastic achievement given
the average age of the team is
18 and that’s including
Michelle, Ciara and Niamh!!!!
Star performer – no one
(they all did well)

All players to be in Burren for

Clonduff are the favourites not
only for this game but to lift
the county title, but as stated
before Saval are a young and talented
side and on their day can complete
with the best, don’t rule
out an upset.

Semi- Final
Wednesday 29 August Carryduff
4-4 Saval 9-11
Congratulations to the younger
girls who made the semi-finals
of the championship in Carryduff.
This was a closer game than the
score-line suggests. The girls
were made to fight all the way
by a spirited home side.
