A fantastic night was had by all
on Saturday past as the ‘Chairman’s
Night’ took place in the club.
The packed hall was full of Savalians
and visitors alike, including our
star guests and a few famous faces.
The meal, which was served by Aidan
Forde of Art Bar Funkel, was flawless.
Throughout the evening, which was
hosted by comedian Gene Fitzpatrick,
there were various draws for all.
The Ladies draw was for a Spa Day
in the Farnham Estate while the
men got their chance to win £500.
The
popular ‘Heads and Tails’
game was won by Attracta Digney.
Our own Daniel Hughes was the first
to speak and he spoke extremely
well on his own path to County Football,
he also thanked all those in Saval
who have helped him along the way.
Tyrone Manager, Mickey Harte was
next up to speak and his knowledge
and sincerity was evident as he
spoke of Club players.
International Rugby star Willie
Anderson spoke as a true professional
and had the crowd in cheers as he
told stories of his various sporting
achievements.
The
crowd remained in laughter as TV
pundit, Jarlath Burns came onto
the podium. He also gave his predictions
about the Ulster Championship (controversial
in our Down Club). Gene continued
the entertainment with some jokes
of his own before finishing the
night with the auction.
Some of the prizes picked up were
a golfing trip to Portugal, a Weekend
at the Galway Races, a Weekend in
Dublin for the All-Ireland and a
signed McKenna Cup jersey to name
of few. The night was a huge success
and a massive thank you is extended
to everyone who not only attended
but also contributed generously
throughout the night.
A special word of thanks to our
organisers – Sean Ryan, Seamus
McManus, Kieran Madine, Michael
McCarthy and Anne Lennon who obviously
put in the hard work for such a
smooth running night.
