St John’s Notes 6th Dec 2006

St John’s Notes         6th Dec

Our Set Dancing team were successful in Saturday’s Scór na nÓg semi-final and now advance to the Ulster final, following in the footsteps of the teams from the last couple of years. The final will be in Silverbridge, County Armagh on Saturday 20th January. Well done Martina Cunningham, Catherine Walsh, Siobhan Walsh, James Walsh, Shane Rice, Siobhan McCann, Derbhla Arkins and Neil Magorrian. We also hope that the other Down representatives (Saul’s Ballad Group, Loughinisland’s Quiz team and Mayobridge’s Recitation entry) do themselves justice in the final.

There will be a meeting tonight (Wed) at 9.00pm for all football team managers to discuss plans and projections for 2007.

There is a Big Poker Night in the clubrooms on Friday (8th) with £1,000 in prize money.

The officers and committee members elected at last weeks AGM are President – Henry O’Hare, Chairperson – Jackie McMullan, Vice-Chairperson - PJ McGrady, Secretary – Kevin McGlynn, Registrar - Paddy O’Neill, PRO - Kevin McGlynn, Cultural Officers - Pep Keenan & Caroline McKay, County Board Representative – Bernard Rice, Child Protection Officers - Pep Keenan & Henry Morgan, Safety Officer – Oliver Cunningham. The additional members are Hugh Fitzpatrick, Sean McKay, Patsy Savage, Kevin Walsh, Seamus Murray, Mickey Gordon, Sean Quinn, Jennifer Savage, Caroline McKay (18 in total). There are still a number of positions to be filled (Assistant Secretary, Youth Officer and Players Representative posts remain vacant) and there are also many ways to help out without having to sit on the various committees.

We adopted an Equality Policy designed to promote the inclusion and involvement of all sections of our society in our activities and signed up to the One Small Step Campaign (onesmallstepcampaign.org) in order to help us make this aspiration for inclusion a reality.

The winning lottery numbers for Thursday 30th were 3, 5, 6 and 23. There was only one £10 winner and the jackpot is now £1,350.
