St John’s
Notes 27th February
The minors travelled to Ardglass on
Sunday but came away with no reward for
their hard work against a big strong
side. The team are away again this
Sunday, to Drumaness, before returning
to home turf to host Dromara on Sunday
12th March.
The
evenings are busy already, with the
senior footballers out on
Mondays
and Thursdays, the minors and under-16s
out on Tuesdays (in Castlewellan) and
the ladies football squad out on
Wednesdays. The ladies also go for a run
at Castlewellan Lake at the weekends.
There have two sessions, so that one or
other will suit most people, on Saturday
at 4.00pm and on Sunday at 11.00am. New
members are always welcome to come along
for the exercise and the craic.
The
under-14s are still training on Saturday
mornings at 11.00am, but this will
probably switch to a weeknight as the
evenings get longer. They are also
hoping to arrange some challenge games
before the start of the season. Under-12
training is on Sundays at 3.00pm.
Training for the under-10s and under-8s
will resume on Saturday 25th
March – but players can practice at home
and at school in the meantime.
Membership for 2006 is now overdue – the
fees have been set at £35 for playing
members, £15 for non-playing members,
£10 for minors, £5 for juveniles, £40
for families, and free for OAPs – please
see Registrar Bernard Rice (4377 1207).
The fees are the same for male and
female members.
There
are now only a couple of weeks to go now
before our fund-raising Race Day at
Downpatrick Racecourse on Sunday 19th
March. The Chevy’s will be playing in
the marquee after the races so it
promises to be an excellent day out.
Could those taking tables and selling
tickets please ensure than all monies
and any unsold tickets are returned to
the organisers as soon as possible.
Last
Thursday’s lottery numbers were 5, 10,
17 and 24 – two players win £10 each.
The jackpot now stands at £1,550.
Last
call for old mobile phones and used
printer cartridges (Dell, Lexmark or HP
only). If you can help (our club and our
environment) please contact Kevin
McGlynn (4481 1876) before the end of
the week.
The latest edition of “Naomh Eoin News”
should be with subscribers by the end of
week. This issue reflects on
presentation night, carries a feature on
“Go Games” and looks forward to the
coming season. If your copy hasn’t
arrived, or if you would like to get on
the mailing list (£5 pa) please contact
Kevin McGlynn.
The next management committee meeting is
on Monday (27th) at 9.00pm
sharp.
