St John’s Notes
The under-12s completed their season
with Go Games away Drumaness a week ago
and at home to Liatroim on Sunday. Their
overall performance against Liatroim was
of a higher calibre than that produced
against Drumaness. Such inconsistencies
are only to be expected with such young
footballers, but the general improvement
is obvious to anyone taking a longer
view.
A number of this squad won championship
medals and I know that they would have
liked to have had the opportunity to
have defended their title. There are no
guarantees that they would have reached
the same heady heights again but they
would have tried. Next year, with
players coming through from the “Quick
Touch” under-10s to the “Smart Touch”
under-12s the progression inherent in Go
Games and the benefits therein will be
more obvious.
The St John’s camogie team get the
chance to do the double this weekend
when they take on Liatroim in the league
playoff. This game takes place on Sunday
in Drumaness with throw in at 2.00pm. It
stands at one win apiece in the league
so far; Liatroim won by a point (8-01 v
7-03) on the opening day of the season
while the Johnnies got their revenge in
August by a seven point margin (4-11 v
5-01). Apart from those games both sides
were relentless, winning the rest of
their games. St John’s have already won
the championship on their last outing
with an impressive 5-09 to 2-02 victory
over Ballygalget.
The first Scór na nÓg semi-final takes
place in Dromara this Sunday with the
second one in Saul the Sunday after. St
John’s hope to have entries in five of
the eight possible categories.
Our juvenile presentation night will be
on Friday 3rd November. As
usual there will be a collection at the
door for a local children’s charity. If
you have any suggestions as to where
this donation might go, please make your
suggestions to any committee member or
juvenile mentor.

The lottery jackpot was won again on the
12th, when the numbers were
7, 10, 17 and 21. This was the fourth
jackpot to be won this year. This time
the prize was £1,400 and there were five
£10 winners as well. The numbers last
Thursday (19th) were 1, 10,
16 and 26 and there were two £10
winners. The jackpot is now £1,050.
A sum of money was found in the
clubrooms a couple of weekends ago – if
you think that it might be yours contact
Jennifer Savage (4377 1411).
Pep Keenan (4377 8712) will also be
running a Christmas club between now and
the end of the year.
The Chevy’s will be playing in the
clubrooms on Sunday 29th.
This is strictly over-18s.
