St John’s Notes 27th
Sept
St John’s minors met Longstone in a
thrilling semi-final clash at
Glassdrummond on Sunday and served up a
treat. Both sides are to be complimented
for bringing and giving their all on
Sunday. The game ended in a draw (1-09 v
0-12) and we can scarcely expect to be
witness to such a great game of football
in the replay next weekend.
The St John’s camogie team overcame
Dromara at home in the league on Sunday
and it looks like they will face a
playoff with Liatroim for the league
title. So there is the prospect of a
double for the girls as they are also
gearing up for a championship final.
Our FUNdamental training sessions (for
under-12, under-10 and under-8) come to
an end this Friday (29th)
with the last drills for the under-12s
and under-10s. All the under-8s are
asked to do their utmost to get along on
Friday as well as there will be a short
presentation at 6.15pm.
Our training sessions for juvenile girls
wound up last weekend. Many thanks to
those who were involved in this.
As activity on the field winds down it
is time to turn our attention to
cultural aspects of Scor and Scór
na nÓg. Dancing resumed in the clubrooms
on Monday at 8.00pm, with a lot of work
to be done before the East Down
semi-finals on 29th October
and 5th November.
There was only one £10 winner last week
when the lottery numbers were 16, 17, 21
and 28. The jackpot now stands at
£1,300. This week’s lottery will be
drawn tonight (Wednesday) so sellers and
collectors should take note and have
their returns in a day earlier.
Pep Keenan (4377 8712) has received a
delivery of shorts for 5-6 and 7-8 age
groups. She will also be running a
Christmas club between now and the end
of the year.
The next committee meeting will be on
Monday 9th October
The next big meeting thought is on
Thursday when Declan Burns meets his
match! We extend our best wishes to
Declan and his new bride.
