The camogie team haven’t played since
they advanced to the championship final
with an away victory over Dromara (2-01
v 4-08) last Monday. The final will
probably be in mid-September with the
opposition provided by either Longstone
or Ballygalget. There are also three
outstanding league games; home and away
against Dromara and at home to Darragh
Cross.
Our minors’ championship semi-final will
be against Longstone on 24th
September. The venue has not been
determined yet. The other pairing sees
Clonduff take on Ardglass.
Our under-16s were away to Newry Bosco
last Tuesday. This was truly a game of
two halves as the Johnnies deservedly
led 0-7 to 0-6 at the turnaround.
However,
St John’s
lost Stevie Trainor to injury early in
the second period and began to ship
goals after with Bosco running out 4-11
to 0-08 winners. They have two
outstanding league fixtures; at home to
Mayobridge and away to Castlewellan.
Our under-14s were at home to
Castlewellan last Thursday. They were
always second best against a very
determined Castlewellan side on a rain
soaked evening as the visitors ran out
comfortable winners. The under-14s
playing season is due to be completed
this week with a trip to Kilcoo
yesterday (Tuesday) and an outing
against Bredagh tomorrow (Thursday).
There were a number of disappointed
footballers at the club on Saturday
morning when the under-10 GoGames blitz
fell victim to the weather. Perhaps they
were hoping to get soaked, catch a cold
and get a few more days off school!
Training for under-10 and under-12s
continues Friday evenings at 5.00pm.
Last week’s lottery numbers were 8, 14,
15 and 23. There were two £10 winners
with the jackpot now standing at £1,150.
There will be a Poker Night in the
clubrooms on Friday 8th
September.
We extend our sympathy to the family and
friends of Willie Quinn. May he Rest in
Peace..
