Busy weekend for St John's under-12s
|
St
John’s under-12 footballers had a busy
week when they took part in the Clonduff’s
invitational tournament on Saturday 28th and
then entertained Liatriom in Go Games on Sunday
29th.
The team displayed
a lot of quality in the Clonduff tournament
and indeed it took a lot of application, skill
and teamwork for them to win through the group
stages. These qualities were again in abundance
as the team advanced through the knock-out stages
before being stopped by Burren one game short
of the final.
The team played
well again against Liatroim on the Sunday. Indeed
both sides played a lot of good football. It
was notable that players from both sides tried
to find a teammate with a pass when in possession
rather then go off on a solo run or else just
try to kick the ball long and hard. So it was
that both sides were able to craft plenty of
scoring chances. The visitors were more economical
with their chances, and more of their chances
were goal chances. So, despite the best efforts
of the St John’s defence and Patrick Keenan
in goals, Liatriom were able to outscore the
hosts.
