It was another case of so close and yet so far for our Set
Dancers who had to settle for the
runners-up spot in Saturday’s Ulster Scor
na nÓg final. Nonetheless we are proud
of their achievement in getting to this
stage, so well done to Martina
Cunningham, Catherine Walsh, Siobhan
Walsh, James Walsh, Shane Rice, Siobhan
McCann, Derbhla Arkins and Neil
Magorrian. Congratulations to Claire
Rooney of Mayobridge who was Down’s only
winner on the night and now goes forward
to the All Ireland final in Athlone on
Saturday 17th February.
There will be five entries from
St John’s in the Scor Sinsear (ceili
dancing, set dancing, recitation, solo
singing and a quiz team). They will be
competing in the second semi-final on
Sunday 4th February (the
first semi-final is on Friday 2nd).
There will be a training course for prospective camogie
referees this Sunday 28th
January in Ben Dearg. The course runs
from
10.00am to 3.30pm, the course is free and lunch is provided. If you are

There will also be a training course for prospective and
returning football referees commencing
on Monday 5th February at
7.30pm in the Donard Hotel, Newcastle.

Training for our under-16 and under-14 footballers will be on
Saturday at
11.00am.
We will be joining forces with Dromara to provide camogie
training for primary school and under-12
girls. This will be in Finnis Hall
starting on Sunday 4th
February (12.00
– 1.00pm).
Our Dinner Dance and presentation night will be on Friday 9th
February in the Burrendale Hotel (8.00pm,
music by Divine Harmony). Admission will
be strictly ticket only and tickets are
available from Caroline McKay (9756 3802
or 078 4110 0253). Trophies should be
returned to any committee member.

Our Race Day at Downpatrick Racecourse will be on Sunday 25th
March, not the 18th as
previously advertised.

Rates have been kept the same as last
year - £35 players, £20
students/unwaged, £10 minors, £5
juveniles; £15 non-playing members; £40
family membership (2 adults + 2 or more
juveniles).
Pep Keenan has a number of pairs of football boots for sale
as well as the usual array of club
clothing and playing gear. These are in
small sizes mainly.
There were four £10 winners in last Thursday’s lottery when
the numbers were 8, 9, 19 and 20. The
jackpot is now £1,700.
Now that she has reached the ripe old age of 21, Sinead W is
on the lookout for an eligible bachelor.
