St John’s camogs clean up
again!
|

Following on from their championship success of 2006, the
St John’s camogie team cleaned up again
on Sunday. As always commitment to the
cause, drive and determination were to
the fore. And they overcame whatever
dirt was thrown at them.

Yes, it was the big beachwear car wash on Sunday and there
was bank holiday traffic chaos with
tailbacks as far as the
Ballylough Road. Some of the punters
were spotted coming through the wash a
couple of times. We suspect that one
fella even hired a car, so that he could
go around again. But the team never
tired; cars, vans, 4x4s, agricultural
vehicles – they took them all in their
stride.
An immediate benefit for the team was that the girls were
excused training on Monday evening. This
was after coach Eoin Walsh got them to
clean his van before its PSV test. It
may yet fail that, but if it does it
will be because of the nut behind the
wheel rather than cleanliness!

The girls would like to send a big thanks you to Ben Willowby
of Milligan’s Tyres, Anthony Quinn of AQ
Engineering, Sean Savage, Aughlisnafin
Community Hall for the use of their
premises, the Spar for supplying
hospitality, JRs for the sponges that
were put to such good use and Kevin
Walsh for plumbing services. The club
would like to say a big thank you to the
camogs.
Every one delighted that Dolly Parton could find a gap in her
tour dates and make at appearance on the
day. There aren’t many women like that
in these parts – thankfully!
And in a separate development Eoin Walsh was spotted in an
usual pose – Eileen says that she has
never seen him with a broom in his hand
before.
