St John’s Notes 10th October 2007
There is something about the trip across
the Mournes that appeals to our young players.
The under-10s came home with the Shield in
June and now our under-9s achieved the same
success on Friday evening at the An Riocht
indoor blitz. Well done to all concerned,
it’s a great way for them to round off
the season.
The under-8s were expecting to round off
their season with a trip to Kilcoo on Sunday
morning but that has been postponed for a
week due to a bereavement.
A series of Fitness Nights starts tomorrow
evening (11th) in Aughlisnafin Hall, from
7-8.00pm at a cost of £2.50 per person.
There will be a Poker night in the club this
Friday (12th). A light supper will be served.
Watch out for news of Bingo soon.
We are only a few weeks away from the start
of the Scór na nÓg competition
with the first semi-final on Sunday 28th October.
If anyone is interested in entering either
the Scór or Scór na nÓg
competitions, or helping out in any way, please
contact Pep Keenan, Caroline McKay or Eoin
Walsh. The East Down semi-finals are scheduled
for 28th October and 4th November with the
final on 11th November (all Sundays). The
All county final will be on Sunday 25th November.
The lottery numbers last Thursday were 11,
16, 18 and 27. There were no winners and the
jackpot is now £2,350.
Our Senior Presentation Night and Dinner
Dance will be on Saturday October 27th –
this is earlier than usual and is timed to
mark our thirtieth anniversary.
The county board are running a series of
coaching workshops over the next few weeks.
These are aimed at coaches working with, or
intending to work with, juvenile players from
under-8 through to under-16. Last Wednesday
there was a “FUNdamentals” workshop
(for under-6 and under-8s), this Thursday
(11th) there will be a “Learn to Train”
workshop (under-10 and under-12) and on Thursday
18th there will be a “Train to Train”
workshop (u-14 and under-16). These are FREE
to all club coaches and will start at 7.30pm.
The venue will be St Malachy’s High
School.
