Teconnaught Notes 19th June 2007
Teconnaught
GFC Notes
- U12s played St Pauls on Sunday
morning and won on a scoreline of
4-5 to 3-5! In Team 1 there were
good displays at midfield by Niall
Owens and the overall excellent
team work and passing of all
players ensured their win. Best
for this team were Daniel
McGreevy, Niall Owens, James
Casement, Ben Casement and Conor
Greene. Teconnaught's 2nd U12 Team
(Team 2) also beat St Pauls with
20 points to spare! Their scores
came from Mark McMullan (2-0),
Calum McClements (1-1), Nathan
Brannigan (1-0) and Owen McCaul
(0-6). There were also outstanding
performances from James Greene,
Callum McClements and Owen McCaul.
Training continues on Wednesday
night from 7-8pm and all new
players are welcome.
- U16's have finished the first
half of the league with 2 great
wins over Carryduff B (13-17 to
2-2) and Drumaness (6-12 to 1-9).
A good solid keeping performance
from Ciaran Casement denied
Drumaness a couple more goals last
Tuesday night and he was assisted
in his defence from a solid
backline who put in an excellent
performance. A good mobile
midfield kept the engine running
and the forwrd line continued to
knock over the scores to ensure
the points were Teconnaught's. Top
scorers were Michael Monan and
Daniel Morgan. The team have put
in two excellent performances over
the past 2 weeks with Scott Murnin
and Daniel Flanagan outstanding in
defence.
- Seniors played Saul on Thursday
night at home in atrocious
conditions and unfortunatly the
standard of football wasn't much
better. Our fate lies in the hands
of the County Board with this
match, as referee Mark Lynch
abandoned the game with 5 minutes
to go however, not because of the
weather. Management and players
from both teams were left baffled
at this decision and hopefully we
will get to replay the game.
Seniors now play Bredagh tomorrow
night (Thursday) at home and all
support welcome. Light
refreshments will be available in
the Club after the match.
