Seniors played Mitchells on
Saturday away and torrential
conditions dominated for the
majority of the match. Teconnaught
were first on the scoreboard
and they soon commanded the
lead with a Ronan Sweeney goal.
They lead 1-5 to 0-5 at half-time
however, Mitchells soon started
to play catch-up and it was
quickly only down to a point
but Teconnaught were always
in control and substitute David
kelly added another goal on
the stroke of full-time to leave
Teconnaught evetually winners
by 5 points.
Next up is Carryduff away and
supporters should keep an eye
on the local paper for fixture
time.
*Under 12 final was played in
Downpatrick against Saul on
saturday last in wet and windy
conditions and it was Saul who
settled down and played well
with the wind in the first half
,Saul built up a good lead and
Teconnaught had some good chances
but good saves from Saul keeper
and the woodwork and the weather
seemed to be against Teconnaught.In
the second period Teconnaught
failed to use the wind advantage
and credit to Saul who were
sharper and more determined
on the day,Teconnaught will
have to learn from this and
hopefully come back next year
and compete at this level ,great
performance from Teconnaughts
Patrick Grant and Aidan McDonald
and Micheal Mc Mullan and all
the panel that worked hard over
the year in the league and championship.
*Girls under 16 traveled to
Hilltown to take on Clonduff
in the semi final of the championship
and battled well against a big
Clonduff side in wet and windy
conditions.The first half was
dominated by Teconnaught with
great points from play and a
well worked goal from forward
Sarah Greene,with N Mulholland
,J Greene and C Mc Donald and
R Bradley working hard in this
period .In the second half Teconnaught
were pegged back by Clonduff
and it made for an exciting
finish in which Clonduff ran
out winners by 2 points hard
luck to the girls who ran their
socks and should have won except
for some frees did not go their
way.
