*Teconnaught U14 ladies defeated Saul U14 ladies today with a very impressive score of 3 Goals 18 Points to Saul's 2 Points, this victory takes the girls into their first ever Championship Final. Great defence from Aimee Greene, Sionnan Rogan, Maura Quinn, Sara Green, Yasmin El-Hertani and Tina Madine. Midfield was dominated by Jennifer Green and Nicole Mulholland with Claire Mc Donald half forward and Siofra Bradley full forward all contributing to the impressive socreline. Emma Murphy was in goals and saved a Saul penalty late in the second half. Our half and corner forwards also played well with Annette Mc Cormick, Eile Bradley, Ciara Burns and Aine Madine all contributing to play. Also not to forget about our Subs with Claire Greene scoring a brilliant point, Caitlin Mulholland supporting the back line and Naimh Anderson scoring a brilliant goal seconds from the full time whistle. We now face Newry Shamrocks or Annaclone in the final, good luck to all the girls and management.
*Under 12 boys played Dromara in the semi final of the B championship in Ballykillner on sunday .The last time both teams met in the league Dromara won both games ,but on sunday Teconnaught played with great determination and fought hard for all loose ball and R Brennan produced some fine saves in the second period ,with C Branningan and A Mc Donald ,M Owens outstanding in the half back line.The first half was very even with both sides playing good football, in the second half Teconnaught started to win the midfield area with P Grant and P Maguire delievering good ball to the forwards where B Casement M Mc Mullan and R Anderson were knocking the points over.A hard fought victory and some fine scores by the forward line but most important great team win saw Teconnaught progress to the final Teconnaught 1-8 Dromara 1-7 ,well done to all the lads on the panel and management good luck in the final.
*With the under 14 girls and under 12 boys both reaching the final it would be nice to see all parents and members come out and cheer our young people on in both finals, remember praise and encouragement works wonders .
