Tullylish
brought back to earth by Atticall
ACFL Div 2: Tullylish
0-06 Atticall 2-18
Tullylish were brought back down
to earth at Parc Na Og on Friday
night last by a free flowing Atticall
team. Having won 3 games on the
trot Tullylish were in confident
mood but in the end they were shown
what it takes to be challenging
at the top of division 2.
Tullylish started the game well and were soon ahead through a Chris McGovern point but Atticall hit back with 2 quick points showing what they were capable of.
Tullylish matched the visitors for the first 20 minutes of the game defending well and looking dangerous in attack but the signs were there that they were in for a long night. They did take the lead again through another point from Chris McGovern and a Gary Chambers free but after this it was one-way traffic.
Atticall hit 4 unanswered points in quick succession after 25 minutes and were slowly turning the screw. As half time approached Tullylish received a major blow when a high ball into the square was punched to the net to leave Atticall in control at half time 1-7 to 0-4
If Tullylish had matched their opponents in the first half they were treated to a lesson on how to play running football in the second. Playing a expansive running game Atticall were rampant for most of the half scoring at will in wave after wave of attack. Tullylish worked hard for the large part but with little midfield possession won and rare sorties into the Atticall half produced only 2 Tullylish points from John
McAreavey and Gary Chambers. This game was effectively over after 10 minutes of the half but Atticall played for the full sixty minutes pouring more misery on for Tullylish.
Tullylish must now pick them selves up and learn from this game in their survival push.
Tullylish:
R McConville; A McEvoy (P Grew); M Feeney; S Greenaway; G McEvoy (M McEvoy); C McManus; R Barry; D Corbett; P Quinn (K McCartan); M McCartan; J McAreavey 0-2; M Fitzpatrick (C Thompson); E Morgan; C McGovern 0-2; G Chambers 0-2.
