Second
half collapse for Tullylish
ACFL Div 2: Ballyholland
0-16 Tullylish 0-10
Tullylish fell to yet another defeat after a second half collapse against Ballyholland on Sunday last. Not for the first time this season Tullylish flattered to deceive for 2 thirds of the game only to let their heads drop and undo all their good work.
Tullylish started off solidly and although taking time to settle soon found their stride. Scores from John McAreavey, Mick McCartan and Gary Chambers kept Tullylish level before they took control. Tullylish started winning all the breaking ball around midfield and the forward line proved more accurate than their previous game. They soon built up a 4-point lead with 2 points from John McAreavey and efforts from Colin Thompson and Chris McGovern. Ballyholland battled back well in the final 10 minutes of the half to once again cease the initive Tullylish were giving the Ballyholland attack to much space and they were punished with 3 Ballyholland points to leave the half time score Ballyholland 0-6 Tullylish 0-7
Tullylish took the field for the second half knowing that they must retain their work rate and continue to win breaking ball around midfield if they were to aceive a win. Unfortunately this did not happen Tullylish did stay with Ballyholland in the first 10 minutes of the half with points from John McAreavey and Gary Chambers. This was as good as it got as for the reminder of the game Ballyholland took control and with wind advantage scored some long range points to put the game beyond the visitors. Once Ballyholland had assumed advantage Tullylish heads soon dropped and the game was over as a contest long before the end.
Tullylish need to battle hard for every point and it is worrying that once the opposition take control they face little resistance from Tullylish if they are to survive this needs to change now in order to secure the points needed for survival.
