Tullylish
push themselves closer to relegation
ACFL Div 2: Tullylish
0-13 Kilclief 1-11
Tullylish pushed
them selves closer to the relegation
trapdoor with a poor performance
against Kilclief. It really was
a game that Tullylish should have
won but they were out battled by
a hungrier Kilclief team.
Kilclief started the game well with
a point but Tullylish soon hit back
with a John McAreavey point. The
home team were struggling to settle
and their task was made no easier
when the Tullylish defence was caught
napping and a high ball into the
square was punched to the net. Over
the next 5 minutes Tullylish started
to get into some sort of rhythm
and got a point through Michael
McCartan. The midfield battle was
swinging in Tullylishes favour but
wasteful passing and bad decision
was costing them dear. Kilclief
were taking their chances when they
came and struck two points to leave
a 5-point defecate with 20 minutes
gone. In the final 10 minutes Tullylish
did get their act together Points
from Peter Quinn, Davey Corbett
and Chris McGovern got Tullylish
back into it but 2 more Kilclief
points left a 4 point deficit at
Half time Tullylish 0-5 Kilclief
1-6
Tullylish came out in the second
half with all gums blazing 2 early
Chris McGovern points raised spirits.
Once again poor passing let the
home side down throughout the half
and Kilclief took their points when
they had a chance. Tullylish had
the majority of possession in the
second half but just couldn’t
get level they got to within a point
on several occasions but Kilclief
always pulled clear again. Scores
came from Barney Roberts 2, Gary
Chambers 3 and substitute Barney
McCartan but a goal was what was
needed and it didn’t come.
In the end time ran out for Tullylish
and time is fast running on their
stay in division 2 unless they believe
in themselves and sharpen up their
play.
