Tullylish defeat Teconnaught
By Gordon Hamill PRO Tullylish -

Tullylish 1-16 Teconnaught 0-5
As
the Score line suggests this was a
very one sided contest at Pairc na
nog on Friday night.
In
fact it was well into the second
half before the visiting side
registered a score and at this stage
it was only of consolation value
with Tullylish having left the
result in no doubt long before.
Tullylish started this game as they
meant to go on playing good direct
football and putting the
Teconnaught
defence under immediate pressure.
Tullylish felt they had registered a
goal only for Chris Mc Govern to
have been judged inside the small
square. McGovern made up for this by
firing over two quick points in
succession. Tullylish continued to
dominate but hit four wides before
Gary Chambers contributed with a
nice point from a tight angle.
Mc
Govern followed with two more in a
row, one were he made space for
himself when surrounded by three
Teconnaught players the next were he
capitalised on a poor kick out from
the Teconnaught keeper to fire over
one of the easier points of the
evening. Even at this early stage
the writing seemed to be on the wall
for Teconnaught, Tullylish forwards
capitalising on quality supply of
the ball from their halfbacks and
midfield. Micky Feeny and Barney
Roberts continued to feed the
forwards well. Feeney showed he
could also take his own scores
running from deep and firing over to
leave the score 0-7 to 0-0.
Fintan O Dowds industry was rewarded
with a point Tullylish next score
effectively ended the game as a
contest before half time.
Teconnaught themselves had
threatened a goal Davy Corbett
gathered of his own goal line and
three passes later Gary Chambers was
finishing into the Teconnaught net.
If there was any doubt two quick
points in succession from Mick Mc
Cartan resolved this.

1-10 0-0
At
the resumption of the second half
Mark Fitzpatrick came on for Eamon
Morgan. Davy Corbett continued the
Tullylish unanswered scoring with a
good long range effort.
Peter Quinn scored Tullylish first
free of the game to leave the score
1-12 0-0
Tullylish had at this point scored
1-11 from play.
The
visiting side finally registered ten
minutes into the second half with a
point. Tullylish used the
opportunity this one sided affair
afforded to give some subs a run.
Savage for McManus
Justin for Gary Chambers Cecil
Corbett for Neil Blevins
Kid
for Ronan Barry. The result was now
a foregone conclusion Teconnaught
continued in search of scores to add
respectability to the score line.
Tullylish replied with good efforts
from Cecil Corbett and John
McAreavey. A big plus point from
this game was the spread of scores
throughout the team
With
various players taking on the
responsibility of taking a score
when the opportunity arose
