Tullylish ladies defeat Burren

Tullylish Ladies 16th May 2005

Tullylish Ladies 4-6 Burren 4-3

Monday night took Tullylish Ladies into their second match of the season against Burren. Confidence was high after their recent victory over Aughlisnafin.

Tullylish Ladies got of to a good start with the midfielders Leanne Mc Kiverigan and Laura Finnegan winning possession. The ball was played into the half forwards Catherine Murphy and May-Ellen O'Hare, then with good support play centre half forward Cassie Halliday scored the first point of the match getting Tullylish on their way.

Tullylish got two more points followed with good play from the half back line Irene Moore, Laura Mc Cavana and Charlotte O'Neil passing the ball to Shauna Mc Crory making no mistakes with a goal leaving the Burren keeper with no chance and the ball in the bottom corner.

Cassie Halliday trying for a point from the edge of the D was fighting against the wind, but fortunately for Tullylish the ball dropped over the Keepers head into the back of the net. Tullylish were able to keep possession with a further point from Alana Owens and a goal from Mary Ellen O'Hare. At half time Tullylish were well on their way with three goals and five points and Burren yet to score.

The second half seen Burren coming out with the wind on their side and the determination to get back in the game. They received two disappointing penalties where goal keeper Jane Teggart was up against the pressure. Full back Jane McKvierigan had Claire Mc Cartan and Louise O'Hare on both her sides fighting to win the ball to get it up to their forwards.

With the final three minutes of the game and it equal both teams were feeling the pressure, but Tullylish found the strength to work the ball up the pitch and it was Irene Moore who scored the final goal sealing victory for Tullylish. With the support and leadership from managers Ann Murphy and Gary Feeney the ladies have another win under their belt.
