Carryduff
AGM - 02/12/02
The Carryduff Club AGM took place on Sunday
1st December in the Assembly Hall of St Joseph's Primary
School Belfast. A disappointly small gathering of members
witnessed the bulk of last years committee returned unopposed
and a lively debate on the motions put forward by members.
The membership fees were left at the current rate.
The Committee elected were:-
Chairman- Ger Connery
Vice Chairman- John Higgins
Treasurer- Vincent Bradley
Secretary- Eddie McCrory
Assistant Secretary- Sean Mulrine
PRO- Paul Bradley
Registrar- Barney Clarke
Tommy Morgan
Paul Lavery
Frank McCourt
Kevin Teague
Motions Passed:-
1) That Carryduff approach Bredagh and St Paul's (Holywood)
and together try to make Gaelic Games the main sports in
our secondary schools ie. Our Lady & St Patrick's, Aquinas
and St Joseph's
2) That Carryduff should consider having a 3rds team.
3) In light of the increased interest in the Irish Language,
Carryduff should now set aside a maximum of £350 for the
award of Gaeltacht Scholarships to Juveniles within the
Club. The minimum award to be £50. In the event of more
than seven applications the committee should decide before
considering applications the criteria for the awards.
4) A committee be set up to write a full and up to date
history of the Club.
5) That an all out effort be made to encourage Gaelic Football,
both boys and girls, to be played at St Joseph's Primary
School, and to get the school to enter the primary schools
league.
Motions Denied / Withdrawn:-
The number of the committee members in addition to office
bearers should be increased to six to take into account
of the introduction of Ladies Football and Hurling into
the Club.
That all adult Down Championships be organised to allow
for a back door system. (Motion for Down Convention).
