Dromara GAC's juvenile awards - 05/12/02

MINOR county team manager Ross Carr was the special guest at Dromara GAC's juvenile awards in the Seeconnell Inn on Saturday night.

Over 80 young players were praised for their efforts during the year and the awards which they received were in recognition of those efforts. Ross told his young audience that this was only the beginning and that greater rewards awaited them if they showed the dedication, coaching and sportsmanship necessary to gain enjoyment from the games.

Club chairman Sean McKay welcomed all to the function and thanked Paddy Cowan, Eugene O'Hare and Seamus Branniff for their efforts on behalf of the club's juvenile players during the year.

The juvenile player of the year award went to Grainne Kelly while special awards were made to Colm Kelly and Vincent Lavery who are members of the East Down Development squad.

The other awards were:
most improved player - Owen Kelly (U-10), Gareth Burns (U12), Danny Flynn (U14);
most sporting player - Brendan McNeill (U-10), Stephen Doyle (U-12), John McNeill (U-14);
most promising player - Paul Kelly (U-10), Gareth Drake (U-12), Aidan McKay and Conor Burns (U-14 joint winners);
players of the year - Fintan Kelly (U10), Eugene O'Hare (U12), Barry O'Hare (U14).
