Newry Bosco prepare for Ulster Championship - 01/11/02

Newry Bosco along with Derrygonnelly from Co Fermanagh will be one of two new teams to be competing in this seasons upcoming Dale Farm Ulster Minor Football Championship at Saint Paul's Complex in Belfast.

Killeeshil won the Tyrone minor title on Sunday last after a replayed final with Cappagh and the Red Hands representatives have been tossed in against the holders of the title Ballinderry in the preliminary round game. This is a tough test for the newcomers as Ballinderry are aiming for their fourth win in seven years in this prestigious competition.

The winners of this match will play Newry Bosco the Down title-holders. Saint Gall's are back for a second consecutive year and just like their senior team will face Fermanagh opposition in the first round. They will be hoping to do better than their senior counterparts, and with home advantage will quietly fancy their chances. Their opponents are the new faces from the Erne county, Derrygonnelly.

Four Masters return from Co. Donegal after a few years lapse but, as yet, the Cavan representatives are unknown.

The final of the Cavan championship is between Cavan Gaels who have already won this title and an amalgamation side, Cormore Gaels.

The Breffni winners will face the Monaghan title-hol-ders Clontibret in what is a 'local derby' clash. Because of MacRory Cup and other college competitions the Ulster Minor Club championship cannot commence until December.

The actual dates of the games have still to be decided but the action will be from the beginning of December with games on both Saturday and Sundays.

The fixtures are as follows:
Ulster Club Minor Football Championship (preliminary Round):

Ballinderry (Derry) v Killeeshil (Tyrone).

Quarter-finals:
A. St. Gall's (Antrim) v Derrygonnelly (Fermanagh).
B. Four Masters (Donegal) v Armagh Harps.
C. Cavan winners v Clontibret.
D. Newry Bosco (Down) v Ballinderry or Killeeshil.

Semi-final draws are:
A v B. C v D.
