Carryduff Get First Win - 10/02/03

East Down Minor League, Section A
Sunday 9th Feburary Drom an Ease 0-02 Ceathrú Aodha Dhuibh 2-07

By Carryduff

Carryduff minor team made up for their narrow loss against Castlewellan last week when they comfortably overcame Drumaness in a reversed fixture at Cherryvale on Sunday past. Carryduff were always the strongest team in this match. The cohesiveness of the defence and the midfielders ability to close down the Drumaness forwards paid dividends as Drumaness became more frustrated as the game went on.

The Drumaness keeper saved off a Mathew Quinn penalty in the first half. Mathew made up for this with a return of 1-3 in the second half. Barry O Neill played a captains role scoring 2 points and encouraging his team during the game. Ryan Hanna caught a tremendous ball in midfield and his superb catching is a feature of his game. The full back line held very tight as did the half backs, Martin Gillespie marked the Drumaness danger man and Mooney and Fitzimmonds didnt let much past them.

Molloy, Gardener and Conway played well and the full forward line of Gilmore, Quinn and Mc Loughlin were always menacing. Shevlin and Grahame came on in the second half and Mc Mahon and Clifford were about to make an entrance but the game was blown for full time.
