ALCOHOL ABUSE:
If young teenagers ask you to buy them a drink, do them
a favour and DON'T. DON't make it easy for them. Play your
part and keep kids safe from drink.
Alcohol abuse is arguably the single biggest social and
medical problem in this country. It is doing more damage
to Irish families and Irish society than Tobacco or any
illicit drug.
Survey after survey shows that alcohol consumption is widespread
among children as young as 12 or 13 years of age. Over half
of Irish 9 to 11 year olds have tried alcohol.
These are average children. Living in average homes.
Just like Yours
Not only are young people drinking in greater number and
at a younger age than ever before, drinking to get drunk
is a growing part of teenage culture.
