Rostrevor win Down Feile 2003 - 24/05/03

The finals of Feile Peil took place at An Riocht's town pitch and saw Rostrevor defeated Warrenpoint to claim the title. This year Bord na nOg introduced a Division two competation to attract weaker teams and increase the numbers participating.

The B matches took place first with St John's beating Clann na Banna and An Riocht defeating Bredagh in the semi finals. In the final St John's let a winning lead slip under relentless An Riocht pressure as the game was forced into extra time. St John's once again led the game but the Kilkeel side nicked the result 5-05 to 3-05, with Paddy Gartland getting the two winning goals for An Riocht. Paddy Gartland was awarded the player of the tournament. Both St John's and An Riocht teams progress to the Ulster Feile Division Three in Carrickmore in July.

A Grade

In the first semi final of the A grade Rostrevor and Bosco clashed. The Reds, backed by the breeze, held a precarious five nil interval lead however the Newry side fail to make any impression in the second half and went out of the competation 1-02 to 0-02. In the other semin final Warrenpoint took on Burren. This local derby was won by Warrenpoint 3-01 to 1-02.

Warrenpoint opened up the scoring in the final and carried the game to Rostrevor. 0-01 to nil at half time did not look enough for the point side but they held on valiantly until the final five minutes when Rostrevor levelled and then fired over two more points to win.

All four teams have been invited to the Ulster Feile in July where they will hope to go forward to represent Down in Galway in the All Ireland Finals of the Feile.
