2002 Senior Championship Semi Final
Mayobridge 1- 15 v Bryansford 1 - 07

Champions Mayobridge qualified for the Harp Lager Down Senior Football Championship final with a 1 - 15 to 2 - 07 victory over Bryansford in Hilltown. With the other semi final between Liatroim and Rostrevor being a draw on Saturday evening Mayobridge still do not know who they will meet in the final.
Bryansford opened the game strongly and after ten minutes were 0 - 03 to 0 - 02 in front with scores from Chris Brannigan, full forward Colm Kearney and midfielder Adrian Carville while Mayobridge scorers were county stars Benny Coulter and Ronan Sexton. Mayobridge in the second quarter hit four unanswered points before Bryansford found the net.
With five minutes to go in the first half Shane King set up Simon Gribben for a goal which was one of the best moves of the game. Two minutes later the same combination worked another great goal to leave the scores at half time 2 - 03 to 0 - 07 in Bryansfords favour. Two minutes before half time Bryansford were reduced to 14 players when half back Gareth Toner was sent off.
In the second half Bryansford continued to carry the game to thier opponents but in the end Mayobridge made their extra man power count. In the opening ten minutes after half time Mayobridge produced what was their best football of the game. Within four minutes of the restart Benny Coulter shot two points while 1991 and 1994 All Ireland winner Micky Linden set up Ronan Sexton for a goal. This give Mayobridge a lead which they were never to lose.
Bryansford tried to fight their way back into the game with four unanswered points but in the later stages of the game Mayobridge once again took control, when Robbie Coulter added two points from frees before Linden added his second score of the game from play to leave the scores 1 - 15 to 2 - 07.
