League Latest Mayobridge Focus on league - 23/09/2002

Mayobridge will now turn their focus and energies on the Division One league title. The race for the title is hoting up as we enter the closing stages of the leagues. At present Rostrevor top the table with Mayobridge behind them, both now almost assured of a top four spot. Burren, Bryansford, Castlewellan and Kilcoo will fit out for the other two spots. At the bottom Warrenpoint prop up the table while Kilkeel Side An Riocht just above them. An Riocht picked up two valuable points recently by overcoming Liatroim on a scoreline of 1 - 15 to 0 - 14, but they still look as if they will be in the bottom four. Loughinsland also look to be in the bottom four, while the game between Clonduff and Downpatrick could have a bearing on who is most likely to join them. Liatroim are also in relegation trouble.

In Division 2 Intermediate championship finalists Saval have moved back into top spot along with Newry Shamrocks, after a good win over Ballymartin. Annaclone and Ballyholland look to have taken the other two spots. In division 3 Mitchels assured themselves of the league title and promotion to the second division next season after their two points success over Glassdrummon, who themselves can gain promotion if they overcome Newry Bosco in the final play-off game this weekend. At the bottom of the division it is very tight with Glenn already relegated but for the second time St. Michael's and Teconnaught played out a draw and will have to meet again to see who survives.
