Castlewellan
and Bryansford draw - 05/11/02
The first steps of the Down GAA play-offs
produced a sensational game as Castlewellan and Bryansford
entertained the crowds at Ballymartin. The derby duo fought
out a classic tie, with the match ending in a draw.
The play flowed up and down with both sides giving their
all to make it to the title play-offs. Castlewellan were
only moments away from victory when Colm Kearney popped
up to fire over a stunning point and force a replay (See
Pages 4/5) At the other end of the scale, Downpatrick fighting
for their Premier Division existence will have to wait another
week to begin their battle for survival. They will take
on An Riocht in Ballymartin on Sunday.
Downpatricks game with Warrenpoint, due to be played at
Glasdrumman, was called off due to water logged pitch. Meanwhile
it’s looking grim for Loughinisland.
They were pipped by
a single point by An Riocht in their relegation duel. And
Kilclief are set to plunge back into Division Three. They
were crushed by Longstone and must be fearing the worst.
