Mourne Minors prepare for Orchard Meeting - 29/05/2003
Ulster Minor Football Championship: Down v Armagh Sun 08/06/2003

Both Down and Armagh minor teams have been preparing for this local derby clash for some time. Ger Houlihan's side already have one game in the Ulster Championship under their belt when they defeated Monaghan with an injury time point. The first win for the Orchard county at this level for nine years.

Armagh are a strong side and defeated down in April on the way to lifting the Ulster Minor League. This was Down's only defeat in the competition. However their next meeting will be a much tougher match at Casement Park, as the Mourne side managed by former Down All-Ireland star, Ross Carr has been training and preparing his side for this game, and with the added impetus of a 'local derby' clash this tie could go either way on the day.
