Loughinisland GAC embark on £50,000 redevelopment - 12/11/02

Loughinisland GAC are embarking on a £50,000 redevelopment of their playing facilities and club rooms. As part of their drive for funds the club last week launched their 'Commemorative Plaque' initiative. This plaque, which has been erected in the club rooms, consists of a series of brass plates, each engraved with the name and address of the subscriber's nomination. All club members, past and present, supporters and players will have an opportunity to purchase one of the plates.

A certificate of ownership is also issued for each plaque purchased. Speaking at the unveiling of the plaque last week, county chairman Eamon O'Toole, who is also former chairman of the club described it as a "community project designed for present and future generations." "Loughinisland GAC is a long established club, rich in tradition, which has pride in its achievements both on and off the pitch," he said.

"The club is determined to provide the very best social and playing facilities and we know that our friends, players past and present and Loughinisland people, home and abroad, will support the club in this venture." Also present at the unveiling was Peter Doran a lifelong member of the Loughinisland club who came up with the idea of the plaque.

Details about the plaque and the purchase arrangements can be obtained by contacting Gerry Toman (phone 028 4481 1583) or by visiting the club's website, www.loughinislandgac.net, or by e-mailing the club at: plaque@loughinislandgac.net.
