Support For Existing Project
Club Down Association feels obliged to make a statement on the “Destination Newry” document, which includes reference to the possible incorporation of Park Esler into a proposed private development.
Club Down Association has not been consulted by the parties behind these conceptual proposals, but their outline has been made known to us.
We fully support the position of the Down County Committee, made clear in the County Chairman’s recent statement, that it is unequivocally committed to the existing ongoing redevelopment project at Park Esler. This current project has already made major progress and will provide a 20,000 capacity stadium to modern standards in the immediate future. Our role is to provide an effective structure for funding of the final stages, and to move the project forward to completion.
Club Down Association has a very clear objective to finish the redevelopment of Park Esler at the earliest possible date and will continue to harness all is energies to make this happen.
