away, the action is intensify as the teams go through their final preparations.

Ireland have been busy fine-tuning their game, playing a number of practice matches against a composite WA team from the local football league, the WAFL.

Tipperary's Declan Browne is almost certain to miss the first test this Friday night after being injured in the latest practice match. Browne was on the receiving end of a bone-jarring shirt front from local player Ashley Prescott and was forced to leave the ground with a corked thigh.

Ireland coach, John O'Keeffe, remonstrated with Prescott after the incident, clearly incensed that one of his best players would be likely to miss the game.

The off the ball injury to Browne, and an ankle injury to Laois representative Brian McDonald, soured the 43 point victory over WA.

O'Keeffe believes that WA's physicality helped his team prepare for the test as in previous years, warm-up games were played against old academy players.

In another change to the squad, Kerry's Shane Ryan has come in to replace an injured Trevor Giles.

Seventeen Irish players will play International Rules for the first time on Friday.

Australia have been forced to make a couple of changes with the withdrawal of Peter Bell and Jess Sinclair.

Final teams for the first test will be named tomorrow.

Ireland currently lead Australia 3 series to 2.
