Australian representatives Matthew Scarlett and Mark Bickley will miss the second International rules match this Friday at the MCG after being suspended today at a Tribunal hearing.

Scarlett was suspended for three matches after being found guilty of striking Irish star Des Dolan in last Friday's match at Subiaco Oval.

Dolan told the tribunal that he had been surprised by Scarlett's contact and hadn't had a chance to defend himself as the pair clashed during the second quarter.

Since the incident, Dolan has complained of subsequent headaches but is still a chance to play in the second test. He also suffered a swollen nose and various abrasions to his face.

Irish team doctor, Con Murphy, said he had seen Scarlett hit Dolan in the face at least three times, adding that Dolan was bleeding from the mouth, nostrils and bridge of his nose.

Scarlett admitted to throwing "jumper punches" but is adamant he did not punch Dolan.

The Geelong defender apologised to Dolan for any injuries he had suffered.

Retiring Adelaide player Mark Bickley received a one match suspension for rough play.

Bickley pleaded not guilty to the charge, with his advocate arguing that Bickley had received an appropriate penalty for his discretion last Friday when he was yellow carded.

However, the tribunal argued that Bickley's contact with Kelly constituted rough play because it was unreasonable.

Kelly was not hurt in the incident.
