Down Championship match to take place on June 8th - 21/11/02

Down footballers will open their championship campaign on June the 8th against either All Ireland winners Armagh or Monaghan.

Armagh will begin the defence of their provincial and All-Ireland football titles on May 11 when they face Monaghan in the Ulster preliminary round on May 11 at Saint Tiarnach's Park, Clones. If, as expected, the Orchard County advance to the quarter-final, they will meet Down at Clones on June 8th. If Monaghan cause a shock, then Down will face them in either Newry or at Casement.

After that, it is a June 22nd semi-final meeting with either Fermanagh or Donegal.

Meanwhile, in hurling, Casement Park will host all championship games, except for New York's home game against Derry, which will be held at Gaelic Park in the Big Apple. Down will play either Antrim or London on May 18th.
