Brewster not yet in the clear - 17/06/03

2003 Ulster Football Championship - Semi Fianl
Down v Fermanagh
@ 4.30 p.m. Clones, Sunday 22nd June 2003

Paul Brewster looks certain to line out for Fermanagh against Down in Sunday's Ulster Football semi-final but his place in the county's next match remains in doubt. Monday's meeting of the Games Administration Committee did not view footage of an incident in Fermanagh's win over Donegal where Brewster appeared to punch John Gildea.

However, a Croke Park official pointedly told the BBC Sports website that the issue "probably will be looked at in the future". "Any suspension that might arise would date from the player's last match," added the spokesman. Therefore in the same way that Gavin Devlin lined out for Tyrone in the drawn Ulster match against Derry, Brewster will start on Sunday knowing that he could be facing a suspension.

The GAC's next's meeting is scheduled for 30 June and it's likely that the video evidence will be viewed then.
