Bryansford star King vows to return to Down Fold - 23/11/03

Former Fermanagh star Shane King has admitted he is devastated to be left out of the Down panel for the upcoming league campaign and has vowed to force his way back into contention.

The former Fermanagh man was the star of the show as Byransford shocked Mayobridge to claim the county championship. The 28-year-old believes that he is in the form of his life at present and is bitterly disappointed at his omission.

"My form has never been better," claimed King. "It's a blow. I don't mean to sound arrogant but I thought I was one of the players who turned the game against Fermanagh last year. Maybe I haven't shown the commitment or passion that Paddy (O'Rourke) is looking for.

"I'm going to be as fit as I can this winter, give it 100% next year, and see if I can get into Down's plans."
