McGrath may take role with U21's - 01/09/03

It has emerged that Pete McGrath may take up a role with the Down U21 football team next year rather than take over an outside county.

The news broke as Paddy O'Rourke and his management team were reappointed for another term in the Mourne County senior job.

O'Rourke is also over the U21 team but is thought that McGrath may come into that management set-up in order to allow O'Rourke to concentrate more on the senior team.

Pete McGrath won senior All-Irelands with Down in 1991 - when O'Rourke was captain - and again in 1994.

He had been linked with the Louth job but subsequently withdrew his name from the ring and has been talked about in relation to the Cavan and Westmeath jobs.
