Laois' 100 per cent record may have come to an end against Down at Portlaoise on Sunday, March 2, but manager Mick O'Dwyer wasn't complaining after his side's draw.

"That was a cracking game," he enthused.

"That was championship football at its very best. It was great stuff from two teams that were willing to play football. On the day, a draw was a fair result."

However, O'Dwyer's Down counterpart Paddy O'Rourke didn't concur: "I am disappointed not to have got two points. I thought we did enough and showed a lot of character and I thought really that we had the game in the bag.

"If we had a little bit more experience and composure, we could have closed out the game."
