Coulter, held out in an exciting finish in this Dr McKenna
Cup game in Páirc Esler, Newry yesterday.
Despite facing the strong breeze Down started well with
a goal from Aidan O'Prey and a point from Liam Doyle
inside the opening ten minutes.
But they did not score again for 20 five minutes. Tyrone
star Mark Harte lobbed over two points while Ronan Clarke,
Leo Meenan and Liam O'Hare had points as St Mary's led
by 0-7 to 1-2 at half-time.
The second half introduction of Benny
Coulter proved inspirational and his two points in two
minutes edged Down ahead for the first time.
Mark Harte, son of Tyrone manager Mickey, scored four
great frees for St Mary's, however, he crucially missed
a late effort that could have levelled matters.
