JFC Final preview Clann na Bann v Glenn or St John's - 27/09/03

The junior championship decider will be contested between Clann na Bann and either Glenn or St. John's. The semi-final meeting between St. John's and Glenn was cancelled last week-end after the death of former St. John's Chairman, Jim McCann.

Clann na Banna secured their final place last weekend when they overcame a gallant Bredagh side at St. Colman's Park, Drumaness on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-8. This was a closely fought encounter. The sides were level at the interval, but the winners went into a three points lead in the third quarter, which they maintained right to the end.

The Bredagh side will look back on this game as an opportunity missed. The loss of key players before the game such as Johnny Cleary in attack and Paul McEvoy in defence, who was suffering from the 'flu could well have been the difference in the end, while their cause wasn't helped in the second-half when left half-back Kevin Muldoon was sent off after two yellow cards.
